Rick Bentley:You've got a great character in this series. Can you talk about how pleasing
it was for you to find a character so strong.
Hannah New:Yea. I mean I just kind of as soon as I read that I knew I would just relish
playing someone as strong as this. It's exceptional fun playing someone who's a bit of a ball
breaker and tells a lot of burly pirates where to stick it most of the time. It's an incredibly
privileged position to portray a woman like that on television. I think a lot of women
today would identify with her.
She's a young business woman who is determined to find success. She is a visionary and an
idealist. And think all of those things really feed into young women's ambitions today. I
really admire her. There are so many things about her that I aspire to as well.
And sometimes she's bad. Sometimes she's not a saint. And she's not a hero. She is very
fallible. I think in that way she's just human. And I think lots of people can identify with
that, too.
Rick:And that make her very interesting.
Hannah:Yea. Certainly. She definitely has a lot to deal with. And she has suffered in
her life. And that history is something that becomes very prevalent when she decides to
go for what she believes in and achieve what she is trying to achieve.
