Hi. My name is Tres Tew. I'm an instructor at Yeshua's Ryu Martial Arts and on behalf
of Expert Village, I'm going to be teaching you about improvised weapons. Now your chair
can be used as an effective pushing tool as well as a shield. I'm going to show you both,
okay. Your attacker comes from behind in the first situation and is holding you at knife
point. The first thing you want to do is gain control of the knife hand, pull that down
and away. From here, you can simply stand up and push the knife back into their leg
as you can see here. From here, I'm simply rolling his hand into a wrist lock. From here,
I can strike and then I'm going to stab the knife down. That completely...if I stab down
completely, then I don't have to worry about that threat anymore. From here, I'm simply
going to push down here and cause him to fall over. From there I can either take the knife
out of the chair or just simply run. Also, maybe I'm sitting in the chair and he comes
at me from the front with a knife. Push it out of the way and swing the chair at him.
Now, I can use the pegs here as well as the base as an effective tool. I can stab at him
with the pegs or if he decides to thrust at me, I can use the base to turn the knife out
of the way and come back and strike him. So, those are just two ways that a chair or stool
can be used. It's a very effective tool as it has many different parts. You can stab
with the pegs, use the bottom of the chair as a shield. Again, it's very effective.
