Back in March, the Red Hot Chili Peppers confirmed their new albumwas being mixed by frequent Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich
While Thom Yorke and companycontinue to keep us guessing about what they have in store,
we’ve got some official news out of the RHCP camp: New music is coming Thursday.
The band broke the news Monday (May 2), along with the title “Dark Necessities.”
The so-far-untitled new LP will be the band’s first in 25 years without producer Rick Rubin. Instead,
Danger Mouse is handling production this time around, to go with Godrich’s mixing skills.

In a Billboard interview last month, we asked the co-founders of the Chili Peppers’ management company, Q Prime, when to expect the new album.
“I think early summer,” Cliff Burnstein replied, to which Peter Mensch added, “Hopefully… lots of dominos have to fall, but they're working on it.”
The Chili Peppers' most recent studio full-length was 2011's I'm With You. They've got world tour dates scheduled through late August,
including U.S. stops at Lollapalooza and Napa Valley's BottleRock festival. As for new music, stay tuned.
