In health now.
Health experts are warning the masses
about the potential dangers of measles.
Two people have fallen ill to this disease
and the warning has gone out to Maori families
get immunised to avoid this sickness.
This monster has shown its face once again.
It effects their liver, their blood,
the very standard of living for our children.
Two people have recently contracted this disease,
but it is hoped that it will not spread.
The symptoms of measles are coughing, a runny noise,
and skin rashes.
Despite the easy access people now have to immunisations,
Maori are still dragging their feet.
If see our children with red cheeks, a runny noise and a red face,
then take them to the doctors! It's free!
Statistics show that more the 70% of children 18 months old
are immunised by Auckland DHB,
but that figure stands at just over 60% for Maori.
The outlook is just as bleak in Manukau, and Waitemata.
Naida Glavish is optimistic
that Whanau Ora will have solutions for this problem.
Whanau Ora is about to start,
and hopefully it will give us a way forward in health.
But she has a warning not to be too hasty.
If we rush, then some might get left behind.
So we need to take our time, but take our time quickly!
Whether it is done with haste or caution,
our children's health rests with the judgement of their parents.
