The fall of a large meteorite caused panic in the Russian region of Urals
Friday, February 15, 2013, at 9:20 am local (3:20 in England).
Its passage sparked violent explosions
and injured about 950 people around
the city of Tcheliabinsk
which more than a hundred had to be hospitalized.
Residents of the industrial city of one million inhabitants
located 1,500 km east of Moscow reported seeing
a bright light in the sky
before you feel and hear a few moments later
the shock wave that blew the walls and windows of buildings 3000.
The city authorities reported that about
100,000 square meters of glass were broken.
The governor of this region has already been estimated
the cost of damage to one billion rubles (25 million euros).
Debris caused by the fragmentation of large meteorite
have left a long white trail in the sky,
visible to Ekaterinburg, 200 km from Chelyabinsk
Kazakhstan and 120 kilometers south.
On videos posted online by witnesses,
one can observe the fragmentation of this meteorite
glow across the sky,
and the explosions that followed its passage.
