To start using the Ebscohost system
you will need to connect to it
from the library's website
Once there, you will find a variety of ways
to access our research databases.
One way is to use the
Research by Subject guide.
Here you will find
All of our electronic resources
grouped by subject area.
For example, clicking Business & Economics
will show you a list of tools
helpful for business and economics research.
You will see names of databases and publishers
as well as "info" links to learn more
about each item.
Click the name of a database to start searching.
Another way to find databases
is by using the "A to Z List"
Here you will find all of our databases
organized alphabetically by name.
So if your professor or librarian
recommends a database
you can find it here quickly.
The database we will be working with
is MasterFILE. Scroll down and click it.
Once there, the screen looks like this.
The top area has search boxes for
your search words.
The bottom area has a number of search options
to better control your search results.
Let's say you want to find articles on this topic:
Enter your search words in the
boxes at the top
click the search button
and a list of results will appear on the screen.
The center area has your search results.
where you can see
article titles, citation information
and full text availability.
The right side of the screen
gives us a number of limit options
to focus the search results.
To view more information about an article
click its title.
Here you will see the complete
citation information as well as
the complete abstract (if it's available)
and that is just a summary of the article.
To see the complete article,
look for the "full text" link
at the top or bottom of the screen.
Click the link.
And your article should appear.
Just note that not every article
will be available in full text.
When you have questions
contact a librarian
in person, by phone, or by email.
