the key concepts for this workshop
about the workshop PowerPoint is essentially linear one way and does not easily invite continuing
engagement interaction and collective community building
alternatives exist that leverage that web 2.0 potential to engage learners build communities and provide full discussion and continuing dialogue
our core topics that we'll address this week include
does PowerPoint limit presentations?
what do we really want in a presentation tool?
and what tools are available?
more about this workshop include our objectives through reflecting on our experiences and evaluating the supporting resources
we well discuss the potential shortcomings of PowerPoint in the context of 21st century presentation publication and education
and using the provided tutorials and other supporting materials on 21st century presentation tools
we will explore new technologies and create a sample presentation
Toward that end, activities will include
readings asynchronous discussions, a wiki project and a synchronous wrap up session on Thursday
our graded assignments will include
two discussions: one on the limits of PowerPoint and one on in which will post your final presentation
of using an alternative power point presentation tool
and we'll also build a tech resource wiki
to which you'll each contribute, a technology and some other resources
the assessments for this class are very simple. we have very clear
directions posted with each assignment
and to get a satisfactory and earn your certificates you simply have to post by the due date include each of the
listed component's for the assignment and replied to other participants were noted
if you receive an unsatisfactory, it basically means you didn't achieve one of those three things. You either posted late, didn't complete the assignment
or you didn't reply to the other participants
so this week should be a fun week for us and we look forward to interacting with you and learning from you
and exploring some of the newest tools for presentations
