I’m Jamie Carter and I’ve been invited down here to train for my first Mini-Marathon.
I started at the end of November- racing. Started at Stoke Mandeville. I was lent this
chair doing some fundraising- doing a Skydive for my own chair. ‘got Rick Hoskins coaching
me at the moment. So I’m looking forward to it. This is my second race since I started.
Did the Lincoln 10k a few weeks ago, and set a new personal best of 35 minutes for that.
So I’m hoping to get a good time tomorrow. Round where I train it’s a bit up and down
and I’ve been doing it in 16 minutes roughly. But I’ve got quicker and quicker every time
I’ve done that route. Talent only comes if you put your hard work
into it. Talent is shown when you’re at the top of your game, but you’ve got to
put that hard work to show that you’ve got that talent. Its’ good that we can represent
it in our own country. And it’ll be nice to compete. But I haven’t been racing long
enough to do it. But I’m hoping, if I can to be a volunteer there because they’ve
asked some young wheelchair users to be part of it, and I’ve been asked if I wanted to
do it. So hopefully I might get a spot there as a volunteer.
