Hi guys! This is Eva from Bay Harbour Med Spa. So, some of you asked me what to do for
breakouts under the armpits and why do people get breakouts under the armpits? OK, most
likely when you get breakouts under the armpits it's because you get ingrown hairs. Why do
you get ingrown hairs? Because two things: either the hair is too weak and cannot break
through the skin and instead of going out it sort of lays flat under the skin and then
creates actually very painful abscesses, creates pimples under the armpits. That is one reason.
The other reason is some people, if you do waxing under your armpits, and the wax is
not clean, the spatula is not clean, they don't sterilize the place before and after,
you can get infections. Because remember, they are pulling the hair and if they are
using a spatula that has been used on other people and you are transferring it from one-to-the-other-one,
and and you are using unsterile utensils, unsterile wax, and you are not cleaning the
skin before and sterilizing the skin after you wax, that can create also breakouts and
pimples. That can happen anywhere you wax if it is not sterile, if it is not clean.
So it is important that if you wax your underarms or any part of your body, to go somewhere
and make sure everything they use is clean, sterile, disposable and they throw it away.
If you shave and you break out and you have pimples, my suggestion would be to seek out
laser hair removal places. If you are black, or if you are Hispanic or dark, the only suitable
laser for your skin would be Cool Glide. Cool Glide is the only laser that is approved in
America by the FDA, that can do laser hair removal without destroying the pigment of
the skin. So laser cool glide - C.O.O.L. G.L.I.D.E. that's the only FDA approved laser that uses
a Yag, Y.A.G. based laser beam. That's the only laser I would suggest you seek out to
do laser with. Also make sure when you go to any place, look around, look that if the
place is clean. Make sure that they use a laser, that they don't use an IPL, because
an IPL is an Intense Pulse Light but it's not a laser machine and it won't work and
actually IPL's can hurt dark pigmented skin, but many people don't know that and many people
go to places, and I know this personally because many people come to my clinic and they say
I've been treated but it never worked. Well, what was it? Well people don't even know what
they were treated with. So I ask them to describe the machine and then we figure out that it's
an IPL. So make sure when you go to a place, don't be embarrassed, don't be shy, ask what
is it, can I see some certification, some documents, the name of the machine? Ask what
kind of laser beam is it. Remember if you are dark pigmented the only laser you can
use is a YAG based laser. The beam is called YAG, Y.A.G. and the machine is called Cool
Glide. So, make sure that this is what you get. If you are waxing make sure the place
is clean and sterile. If you ask me personally, my suggestion would be it's better to spend
more money up front and go for a year for laser hair removal, and get rid of the hair
forever, than continue waxing or shaving and get the ongoing problem of ingrowns or pimples
under the armpits. So that would be my suggestion. OK? So I hope that I clarified why you get
pimples and what to do if you get pimples under your armpits. Until next time continue
asking and I'll keep answering. Bye guys! Thank you for listening!
