Krystal - (off camera) So all of our employees know that we like to try and give back to
the community as much as we can. And the reason the real heroes project was so important to
us is because the people like officer Manson, the police officers and firefighters and EMTs
are the first people who arrive to the scene of accidents. They're the ones who help the
victims first, people that we always say that we're in this to help people. They're the
first ones to help. And they don't get as much recognition as they deserve. So the point
of this project was to honor the things that they do and as soon as officer Manson's nomination
showed up it was just so captivating. I don't know if everyone got the chance to check it
out. I voted. I voted for him.
He actually saved the life of a six week old infant who was unresponsive and he preformed
life saving resuscitation all the way to the hospital and it was just a really captivating
story. Actually around the office we called you the baby saver. And you are an obvious
choice for a finalist and then when you got into the Facebook part of the contest people
just loved your story. So many people voted for you and we were just so glad to have you
here. So thank you. Officer Manson -Thank you, Thank you so much.
Nina -(off camera) And we have a little presentation we are going to give.
Rick Console -This is the check to your charity, and to you. And we've been talking a lot about
how, what makes our jobs worth while is that we try and help people. And we cant, You know
we can maybe help them get compensated after something but we cant go and actually do the
type of stuff that you do, and really really make a big impact on people like that, so.
Manson - Thank you, thank you very much. I thank everyone , thank you.
(Applause) Manson - It was nice to um, it was very humbling
to know how much the community thought of us and the police force for what we do, for
what your brother in law does, what our local firemen do, what our paramedics and EMTs does.
We all put a lot of heart and heartfelt ambition into helping the community and helping those
who call out to us. It's a strange job when you hear, especially in the police force,
or a blazing fire, us who run to the scene of the crime, bank robbery, running there
knowing there's a gentleman there with a gun or a fire that's a blaze or such a call as
when this woman came to the door with her grandson and he was unresponsive and how upset
she was and how I had to maintain my composure, as a father of two and seeing an infant that
was unresponsive, hypoxic with the purple lips and he just wasn't breathing.I had a
lot of help, from my coworkers, officer Langford was the one who jumped into my truck, to drive
to the hospital while I performed CPR on the baby in the back. Wasnt able to put a seatbelt
on , so hes driving real franticly but he did a good job getting us to the hospital
in record time. My other officers arrived to the scene and they had to block off traffic
for us to get through intersections to make it to the hospital which was approximately
four miles away. Didn't have time to put the seat belt on, i'm while, hes, in this truck,
and hes taking the corners i'm still. It was difficult, I prayed so much. I'm a firm believer
in god and I prayed so much. And i just wanted god to bless me with the efforts that I was
trying to use upon this little boy to bring him back. I'm telling you he was less the
size of this, he was probably just the size of this plaque and hes forty six pounds now.
He's so big now, he huge, I go by and see him at-least once a month and the parents
let me hold him and everything and hes beautiful, hes a beautiful little boy. So I thank god
for it, I thank all my coworkers who helped out a lot of getting him there, of the parents
who talk to me all the time. We enjoy the credit we get from the community, but the
outreach that came from the community in Willingboro was amazing. I was touched, i really really
was touched. And I um, my Captain encouraged, one of the coworkers to nominate me for this
award, and I really didn't want it. (Laughter)
Almost twenty years of police work, you get a lot of thanks and appreciation from the
community and I think that in itself fulfills me but this is nice.
(Laughter) I want to thank everybody, I want to thank
everybody, I appreciate it. And my department appreciated it, and hats off to your brother
in law, and your (Off Camera) - Friend
Manson - Friend, outstanding job, I read their stories, outstanding job. You tell them, they
have my respect. We all appreciate what they do to. In joint venture
of law enforcement and helping out the community but thank you everyone. I appreciate this.
Rick Console (Off Camera) - Thanks for coming in.
