When I arrived on FPSB, we were clearly fewer
I think we were like 300
What was really different was that we know much better each other
Collaborations were rarer, and everybody watched it
Actually I didn't watch any collaboration for a while, I'm less contemplative in penspinning now
I prefer to do it myself rather than watch, but of course you have to watch some to learn some things
And to marvel watching some videos
So, less collaborations, we knew better each other, it was more important events I think
Personnally my first motivation was to appear in a collab on the Spowash blog... I think I did it once, pretty late.
Plus, we had an other way of seeing penspinning, more based on hard tricks
The level was poorer than today, nobody would perform the back 1.5 except Eriror
I was immadietely interested in trying to do something new, in other words doing hard tricks
I began very early, without trying to make it beautiful, to develop continuous tricks
following Val's path who was the first to do it, so I did pinkyback 1.5 x31, I had been spinning for 8 or 9 months
That's how I started to have a reputation, that I was a machine with a long and heavy mod
And I developed brutal combos with hard tricks that nobody performed before
But immediately some people began to defend a more artistic conception of penspinning
So I was close to Pyralux, we did a tag video together, because he tried to develop something new
He was doing something totally creative in my opinion
I guess he did'nt really know exactly what he was doing ! But he developed something really creative and it give me hope to really create something new
I was pretty much influenced by him as many other spinners
But, well, I haven't heard of him for a while, so...
I really felt I had to give all that I had
It wasn't an easy victory, but I have always been optimistic
From the day when we could compare the videos I wasn't doubting about the victory
So the only doubts I had were before the deadline
Otherwise I knew I was going to win once the two videos were out
And, well, final victory... Of course, I was very happy
Hem... The only problem is that I had a mod as a reward for my victory, and I was supposed to record a combo with it
And I didn't do it yet... But I'll do it, I promise, just wait !
I think that what is specific of my penspinning "career" is to try to match something that is difficult to do
and that is original (even if it's hard today) and the pure aesthetic part of the penspinning.
But, a lot of people try to develop an artistic conception of penspinning, but something disappoint me.
I feel like it's impossible to really make the penspinning an art
I mean that it will always be kind of a hobby, like a sport even if it's more artistic
because there is a will to make something beautiful, or something that have a artistic signification
But it cannot be a real art because I feel like we will never be able to convey a message with penspinning
Sooo... Yeah, that's what disappoint me the most, that the penspinning will never be an actual art
And that we have reached the limits, even if some spinner like fel2fram do things really original
There's always some spinners who are different, of course
But... I think we reached our limits, it will always be juggling with a pen, and that's why non-spinners think we are morons
Even if, well, some people play with a ball and nobody think they are morons, it's just a way of thinking
So, well, I WILL be back, I'm positive. Not this year, because I'm in preparatory school (NB : it's 2 years of extremely hard courses to get into a Grande Ecole)
My exams are from April to July 2013, and it's very long and everything
So I won't be able to be back before July, but I intend to be back in August
And... I think I would really enjoy participating in a tournament ! I will see that
But I promise that sooner or later I'll be back, as I often suggested it.
