Let's return to some of the highlights from Te Matatini o te Ra.
Yesterday, Te Matatini tried to break the record
for the largest haka in the world.
The current world record
is 3000 people performing the haka at one time.
However, did the Te Matatini crowd break the current record?
It wasn't just the performers, even the crowd got into it.
The challenge was to break the Guinness World Record
for the largest haka performed in the world.
The current record was set at the festival held in Ngaruawahia in 2000
which was 3264 people.
Although it is a challenge, the important thing is participation.
We had so many take part in this challenge. I think we have enough.
According to the rules,
the haka must be five minutes long
so they chanted the names of all the haka groups
that performed at the competition.
I really liked the haka.
I want to do it now.
It's great entertainment for the people.
It was great, as it enabled us all to do something together
and be a part of it.
They are optimistic that they have broken the record,
but we won't know for sure until the end of the week.
Maiki Sherman, Te Karere.
