"Volunteer opportunities are really important in terms of developing your career, and here's
how you find the best ones.
Number 1: You want to find a volunteer opportunity that's attached to a passion, because inevitably
you're going to be spending a lot of time doing it, so it's got to be something you
believe in.
Number 2: You want to find an opportunity that allows you to develop skill sets that
you wouldn't otherwise have a chance to actually try your hand at. Because you're not getting
paid for it, here's an opportunity to really take a risk and try something that you're
not familiar with, and get outside of your comfort zone.
Number 3: You want to look for volunteer work experience that will introduce you to people
who you wouldn't otherwise be exposed to. A big draw for volunteering, beyond the fact
that you get to help in a realm that is going to make a difference to people and is attached
to something you're passionate about, is this opportunity to meet people who are really
interesting and really compassionate, and people who may be able to help you in your
career.
And that's how you find a volunteer opportunity.
