What are the main types of hardwood used in timber flooring?
Lately because of the change in the way that houses are constructed in Melbourne, for example
there are a lot more houses being built on concrete slabs,
there are new types of timber flooring in Melbourne that are being introduced onto the
flooring market and there is an evolution of the overlay timber which is traditional
hardwood timber but a bit thinner around 14 mm
It looks and behaves the same as a normal timber floor but this floor is either directly
stuck onto concrete, onto plywood or onto plywood that has been installed over the concrete
In this type of flooring you can have any Australian species of floor, anywhere from
Tasmanian Oak to Spotted Gum to Brushbox Flooring installed and it's quite a new thing that
has emerged in the Australian timber flooring market over the past 5 to 10 years
The second group is the pre-finished timber floors like European Oak or other Oak or other
timber floors in Melbourne that are pre-finished and can be layed over any substraight
