Now we have an artist who is truly an honor to
our Hispanic community. She is an exceptional pianist who shares her passion for
Latin American music with admirable philanthropic work.
We give a great welcome to the great Rosa Antonelli.
It is a great pleasure for me
to share with her, from our studios here in New York City.
Welcome Rosa and I would like to begin first by asking when and why
you decided to play in all your concerts, solely
music from Latin American composers?
Well, I decided to play music from Latin American classical composers,
because I had so much success with my first CD, Esperanza "Sounds of Hope".
At the Barnes & Nobles Release, it sold 180 CDs after the first presentation, and
then I ended up playing the same repertoire at Carnegie Hall.
And the hall was full and I had two standing ovations,
with the Latin American classical composers, for which I am very proud of.
You should feel this way,
one standing ovation is a lot, but two and in Carnegie Hall,
that is really special.
As a historical remembrance
in Carnegie Hall you recorded also
"Remembranza", do you think you can tell us a bit about "Remembranza?"
Yes! It is one of my favorite CD's
because "Remembranza" is the reminder of my concert at Carnegie Hall
where I played two pieces by Piazolla
which were world wide premiere,
and it was such an incredible experience that I had, with the audience, that when Albany Records asked me to record another CD,
I decided to call my CD "Remembranza" which is the reminder of the Latin sounds
at Carnegie Hall and the incredible feelings
that I had in that room. And the cover photo of the CD,
and the back,
were taken during my live performances at Carnegie Hall.
Rosa, I love your images caressing the piano as if it were a lover,
you can actually see the passion.
You are playing at Carnegie Hall again next year,
but before you will play live in honor of Pope Francis.
That is such a huge honor for me
because after the article that was written about me in "America Oggi" which was related
to the coincidences of being Argente with Italian origins just like the Pope and also for my great admiration for him, the article was
about my CD Remembranza, and it was through
Cardinal Dolan who heard my CD, I was then invited to play on the Catholic radio
and now I am invited to play live
on the radio, in the month of December, also in honor of Pope Francis.
In 30 seconds Rosa,
what would you tell the Pope?
I admire him profoundly, I think he is the best
that has happened to us.
He is a simple person with a wonderful humility in which we are all going to be blessed,
in all religions and in all the world because of him.
Its not just because he is from Argentina?
Its not just because he is from Argentina, I think a lot of people agree with you
and are also
waiting that the career of this Pope is different,
and exudes what the Catholic church really is. Rosa Antonelli, Thank you.
Thanks to you.
