We're working on yes and. On how to make offers, accept people's offers, and add on to them.
This is an activity called yes, and adventure. A great, simple exercise to work those yes,
and muscles. We really want to drill yes, and and get really used to it as a beginning
improviser, so it becomes second nature to really accept other people's ideas and add
on them. So here's how this works. Yes, and adventure. Shannon is going to say the first
line of our adventure. Something simple that's going to layout what we're doing, like walking
through the forest, or going to the beach, or in the jungle, something like that. Give
us a little bit of a place, and then I'm going to say yes, and and I'm going to finish the
line and I'm also going to be acting out the story as we go. And then Shannon is going
to say yes, and and he's going to act out the story, and so we're going to go back and
forth, kind of both of us on an adventure together. Nothing is going to happen kind
of between us, we're not going to have any conflict, we're just going to both experience
this adventure together. So, let's get started. Well, Jennifer, 'X' marks the spot, and I
think that this is it! Where the treasure is! Yes, and let's get our shovels and start
digging for the treasure. Yes, and I've got gloves to protect our hands from blisters.
Yes, and I've got super digging strength from all my weight lifting practice. Yes, and I
have x-ray vision that can see through this sand, and the treasure is definitely there.
Yes, and I see it now. Yes, and it's almost there, here it is. Yes, and let's open it
up and see what's inside. Yes, and it's filled with rubies! Yes, and let's dig our hands
in the rubies and let them rain over our bodies. Yes, and now we're rich! Yeah, and let's put
them in our bag so we can take them back and cash them in. Yeah, and then we can both retire
and never have to go treasure hunting ever again! Yes, and let's each keep one ruby for
ourselves to signify this special day. Yes, and we'll never forget it. Clink, clink. Alright,
scene. So, that was a little bit of a yes, and adventure. We did a little treasure hunting
there. The idea is be really support each other's ideas and build on them with something
connected. So encourage your students or participants to say yes and quickly before they even know
what they're going to say next and say it with enthusiasm, and that will lead them to
positive ideas. So, this is a good drilling exercise to get that idea of yes, and in your
head, and making all kinds of offers, emotional, verbal, and physical offers with our yes,
and adventure.
