>> SHARON: It's really important for Aldermore to support British businesses and in our case,
SMEs in particular because they really are the life-blood of the economy.
What we do in Aldermore is every single penny that our British savers save with us is lent
out to British home owners and to the British small businesses and that means that the economy
is always being fueled. By the money that comes in, the money is then taken out to British
businesses and that helps drive the economy.
>> CLAIRE: The core philosophy for Aldermore is probably two slightly different things.
Firstly, it is banking British it is putting that with our brand making us phenomenon's
with pushing the British economy but also applying our expertise, we pride ourselves
in who we have working for us, what we can develop, what we can bring and most definitely
applying that.
>> JULIE: We are the SME champions so we're the challenger bank and we're really there
to shake things up and be different, especially when you've got all the scandals thats going
on out there then we are the fresh attitude to banking.
>> SHARON: I think Aldermore can change the way that people look at the banking industry
in a number of ways. I think they're really very disillusioned with banks and general.
If you look back on the last few years there's been nothing but scandal and issues relating
to banks that have affected every single one of us in our everyday job, admittedly it was
only a small number of people in banks that have caused these problems but I think people
have totally lost all belief in banks and they're looking for something different. I
think they're looking for something that's much more straight-forward, I think they're
looking for products and services that really say what they're going to do.
>> JULIE: Apart from the fact they are our core customers and people obviously value
them, they're obviously at the heart of the British economy and in this climate, for one
thing is to get better, then we've got to support them and got to give them the means
to be out there and what do what they do best.
>> NATALIE: Aldermore have shaken up the banking industry by creating a new culture, by improving
on services that have been previously offered by other banks.
>> SHARON: Well see I think it's like a breath of fresh air i've been in banking for all
of my career and i've never been anywhere quite like it. It's a bunch of people who
are really committed to what they're doing, love what they're doing and come up on a daily
basis with loads of ideas to push things to the very front of what people are doing out
there in banking.
I mean take social media for instance. A lot of banks completely steer clear of it but
we think it's a great way to interact with our customers and even if people are being
negative, you want to know what they're being negative about so that you can put it right.
I've often likened it to driving a Ferrari without breaks, we go at ninety miles per
hour just driving forward, driving forward we just don't know how to stop and I hope
that will continue. When I get up in the morning for work I look forward to it, and may that
long continue.
