Time flies. Even when you're not having fun.
I don't know about you, but it seems like my first day of kindergarten was just last week.
Where has the time gone? It's interesting. We know how much sand has already passed through
the glass, but it's as if there's a veil over this top part. We have no way of knowing
how much sand we have left. And even as we sit here pondering, more sand passes through.
During the planning process, we have to make assumptions as to how much sand a client has left.
It's one of the toughest parts of our job, because you don't want to run out
of money before you run out of sand — but you don't KNOW how much sand you have.
What we DO know is that on any given day, we all have the exact same amount of time as everyone else.
Some people are great at managing their time. I wish I were better at it;
but it can be taken to extremes. Some folks feel like they have to be doing something
productive every waking minute. I'm more inclined to agree with that great philosopher
Ferris Beuller: "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop to look around once in a while,
you could miss it." Just as a pause adds............ emphasis and meaning to a
conversation, stopping to look around can add emphasis and meaning to life. "Hyacinths
for the soul," my mom used to call it. Of all the forms of wealth, time may be the
most valuable. So spend it wisely. Because like money, you can't take it with you.
But unlike money, you can't bank it, or invest it, or make it grow.
And before you know it, it'll be gone.
That's it for now. If you or someone you know needs financial planning or investment advice,
please drop me an email or give us a call here at Millard & Company. Thanks for watching,
have a great day, and we'll see you next time.
