Hi, I'm Cameron Capel, third-generation member of the Capel Rug family,
Capel Rugs has been in Troy, North Carolina since 1917 when my grandfather started the business,
at seventeen years old. He started with the G. Hall Plow Lines,
and he was in Atlanta selling these plow lines that he had developed out of cotton yarn
that he had braided together, and saw that Henry Ford was coming out with the mechanical mule, or the tractor.
And he felt, well, I'm at the end of my ropes, so to speak, so he bought some sewing machines,
and sewed those braids together, thus manufacturing the first braided rugs.
One thing that is unique at Capel is that we are a completely vertical company.
We start with the raw materials, and take that through every process,
it goes in the hopper, the carding, the twisting, spinning, dyeing, braiding,
and sewing and selling processes we do, so we're completely vertical when it comes to our rugs.
And that's unique in our business.
After the yarn is dyed, it goes in to be braided, where it's just like you would braid a hair,
it's a three carrier braider, that braids it mechanically, but there are people who actually man those machines,
so it's not all computerized, or mechanized.
And then after it's braided, it's in big bags that we carry over to be sewn into
whatever size rug that anyone orders.
The rugs that we make for Pottery Barn Kids are all 100% cotton chenille,
which we manufacture here in North Carolina, by a unique process.
It's a little bit higher loft, therefore adding wonderful softness and great durability
to the Pottery Barn Kids rugs.
The program that we're doing for Pottery Barn Kids is a custom program where the consumer can
choose what color base or feel they want and what color border they want,
so it definitely will match the decor of that child's room,
or wherever that rug is going, the playroom or wherever.
So it really customizes it and they can get exactly what they want.
Well we've been doing business with Pottery Barn Kids for at least ten years and it's been a wonderful partnership,
and a great friendship as well. And we appreciate the business
and know that Pottery Barn Kids stands for quality as well.
The quality's really important to us because not only is it our name, it's our family history,
and so we stand behind all of our rugs,
and guarantee the quality of all of them.
I feel fortunate to be able to work beside my family
and this partnership with Pottery Barn Kids allows us to take our passion for floor covering
and bring it into other families' homes.
