Hello everyone and thank you for taking time to listen to this quick presentation about
the rain chances across the region through at least the first part of next year.
Here is an image showing the Climate Prediction Centers 8 to 14 day outlook for the chance
of rain from December 28th through January 3rd. As you can see here, the entire state
of California will experience well below normal precipitation into the beginning of next year.
This image shows a more extended outlook with regards to chances of rain. This is a three
month outlook, also from the Climate Prediction Center, valid for the months of January, February,
and March. Again you will notice that at least the southern half of California is expected
to see below normal precipitation into March.
Although your local National Weather Service office only produces a rain forecast for 7
days, the forecasters do look at various weather models to determine when it might rain next.
This image shows that there is at least a chance for rain the week of January 19th through
25th. This is a very very low confidence forecast, however, there is high confidence that the
entire region will not see any rain through at least the next 7 days.
