Hey I'm Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, and I'm going to be breaking down the SR Performance
shifter bracket fitting the MT82 transmission found on all 2011 and newer GT and V6 Mustangs.
This bracket from SR Performance is going to help improve the overall shifter feel while
helping to eliminate any annoying mis shifts, both the stock shifter and with any aftermarket
shifters. It's also going to help eliminate any sloppiness that can sometimes be found
with this six speed MT82 transmissions. We're going to break this bracket down a little
further in a minute but first we're going to get our 2013 GT out of the shop, take it
for a test spin with that stock bracket installed, that way we can do a proper before and after
when we get the SR performance unit installed. Alright so we're out in the 2013 GT before
we get the bracket installed, and you know Ford really did do a good job with this shifter,
the throws are nice and short, the action is pretty crisp, but if there's any reoccurring
theme, it's the crunchiness trying to go from 1st to second, or second to third in the upper
RPM range. Hopefully our bracket will take some of the sloppiness out of the stock shifter,
and help improve those shifts. So there's really only one way to find out, let's get
our car back to the shop, talk a little bit more about the bracket, and then get it installed.
This bracket really improves the shifter feel thanks to its superior construction, for one
the bracket has been CNC'd from a single block of aircraft grade T6 Billet aluminum, which
is going to help prevent it from flexing under hard shifts, like the factory bracket does.
Another improvement with the SR Performance piece is the inclusion of these high quality polyurethane bushings, that replace
the soft factory bushings. Again, this is just going to firm everything up, get rid
of some of the notchiness, and overall make for firm, crisp shifts. This bracket will
of course fit any stock MT 82 shifters, or any aftermarket shifters that reuse the factory
shifter housing. As for the install, it's really not all that bad, you will need to
crawl underneath the car, but it'll just be a few bolts and about a half hour's worth
of your time. With the bracket installed let's take our 2013 out one more time and see if
we've improved on our shifting experience. Alright so we're back in our '13 GT with the
bracket installed, and let's put this thing to the test shall we? Alright, there you go,
two shifts at redline, no issues whatsoever getting into gear, this bracket is definitely
working a lot better for us now. You can thank those stronger materials, the Billet aluminum
construction, the polyurethane bushings, and overall, this thing works man, that's all
I can tell you. So that does it for the MT82 shifter bracket from SR Performance, be sure
to check it out right here at AmericanMuscle.com
