Go on, you know you want one. Not just cute as babies, giant pandas stay cute. This one
recently born at Taipei Zoo. The female cub is the first one ever to be born in Taiwan.
Now they need to find a name for it. More than 10,000 people coming up with suggestions
in the first round of voting. Zoo spokesperson Zhao Mingjie admitting that Cuddles isn't
among them: "The suggestions concentrated on Yuan Zai. As for the names without Yuan,
we also have Xiao Keai, which literally means little cutie, and Wan Wan. We're going to
select six most popular names and launch the second round of voting among the public. The
name will be finalized after the second round." Her parents, Yuan Yuan and Tuan Tuan, were
a goodwill gift from the Chinese mainland, which views Taiwan as part of the homeland,
despite what Taipei might think. And when they couldn't conceive naturally, zoo officials
opting for artificial insemination.
