At the Association of the United States Army meeting in Washington, D.C.,
John McHugh gave his thoughts on becoming the 21st Secretary of the Army.
I am comforted to the greatest degree by the fact that I join an Army team
that is so confident and so caring and so focused on the challenges we have.
Army Chief of Staff General George Casey talked about progress made in the Army.
We put ourselves on a program in 2007 to begin putting ourselves back in balance,
and I'm going to report to the Army tomorrow
that we have continued to make good progress toward those goals
and that while we are not out of the woods yet by any stretch of the imagination,
we are in a much better position this year than we were two years ago.
