Mauá is located in the São Paulo Metropolitan Region and is one of the most
importante cities in the ABC Region.
In a native language, Mauá means "high, elevated lands".
The city is in Atlantic Forest region and it has many Permanent Protection Areas.
It is in Mauá that the Tamanduateí and Guaió rivers are born and
both of them disgorge in the Tietê river.
The city has a sustainable development policy to protect these gifts of nature.
