The main thing that we get from having apprentices in our organisation
is an enthusiastic group of fired up, motivated individuals who are passionate
and really want to drive forward their careers.
We've had people go through our organisation, that joined us from 19 with no experience,
who became award winning performers
and actually they're now managers of our departments as well.
As well as lots of information on our website, you can also find out
about the Apprenticeship Grant for Employers.
Where we're giving smaller employers who've not taken on an apprentice before,
£1500 towards the cost of employing an apprentice.
Hiring apprentices has enabled us to grow as a company
much more quickly than we would have been able to do otherwise.
It has allowed us to expand what we can offer.
We now offer design and coding because our apprentices are very good at it.
The cost of the Apprenticeship is really straightforward for the employer.
Firstly, they have to employ the individual and pay them at least the Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage,
although most employers pay a lot more than that.
In addition, depending on the age of the apprentice, there's also government support for the cost of training.
If the employer employs an apprentice who's 16, 17 or 18,
the full training costs are paid by the government.
There are benefits as well, around retention costs of our staff.
Because our apprentices stay with us for the long term,
our retention rate for our apprentices is good.
Of 42 people that we've recruited over the last few years,
96% are still with us.
We want to see them go right to the top.
Recently in the last quarter we promoted five apprentices
to the next level within the organisation
so it's definitely working!
