Welcome to video tutorials for students brought to you by the Computing & Technology Services office at Buffalo State College.
In this tutorial we’ll demonstrate how to lookup your Buffalo State username.
Your Buffalo State username is used to access the following campus systems:
ANGEL, the Campus Network (both wired and wireless), Degree Navigator, the Linux Server (if you’re a CIS Student),
the Online Library Databases, ResNet (the residence hall network) and Student Gmail.
Please note that, while you’ll use the same username to access these systems,
the passwords aren’t necessarily the same for all of them.
Your network password is used to access ANGEL, the campus network, the Linux Server, the library databases and ResNet.
Your password for Degree Navigator is the first six digits of your Social Security number and cannot be changed.
And while you can make your Student Gmail and network passwords the same, these accounts are independent of one another.
This means that if you change your Gmail password, it will have no effect on your network password, and vice versa.
To get started, visit the Buffalo State website at www, dot, buffalo state, dot, edu.
From the homepage click MyBuffState. Next, click Students.
Notice that you can access most campus systems right from this Toolbox, including
ANGEL, Banner, Degree Navigator and Student Gmail.
For this tutorial, however, we’re going to scroll down and click the Username/Banner ID Lookup link.
Go ahead and click the link at the top that says “you can look up your username here.”
On this screen, there are three fields to complete. Enter your First Name, your Last Name and your Banner number. Click Find.
To demonstrate how the username lookup works, I’m going to use our Sandy Student test account.
So we've entered all the information we need, and we'll click the Find button.
Your username should be displayed on the next page.
Again, this is the username you’ll use to access most campus systems, such as ANGEL, Degree Navigator and Student Gmail.
If you’re a new student, this page also displays some useful information on accessing and activating these accounts for the first time.
That concludes this video tutorial. If you need additional assistance with your accounts,
please contact the Computing Help Desk using one of the methods listed here.
