A lot of times, I am asked, "If I am in a car crash or I've been injured,
when should I get an attorney? Won't the insurance company just treat me
fairly?" I wish that was the case. But I know from the 20 years that I've
been doing and handling people that have been injured in cases, they're not
in the business of doing what's right. They're in the business of saving
money.
What I find is that those clients that wait too long, do not get an
attorney involved early, a lot of times harm their case without knowing it.
As soon as you are able to get an attorney involved, the better. Obviously,
getting treatment and your medical attention taken care of is the most
important, but after that if you are injured by someone else, you need to
get an attorney involved as soon as possible because we know that if there
is evidence that needs to be preserved and saved, we can make sure that
happens.
You may not appreciate it. People generally think insurance companies will
do the right thing. Again, that's just not the case, unfortunately.
