I have what some of you may find to be sad news today...
...this will be the last episode of Google Plus Friday. We've done 15 episodes, shared
some fantastic tips, tactics and resources for success on Google Plus.
Unfortunately all good things must come to end. This doesn't mean we're no longer going
to talk about Google Plus on Content Warfare TV, just that series is ending.
But we're finishing on a high note, with a strategy that will not only grow your Google
Plus presence but increase the quality of your blog as well.
In The Artist's Way, author Julia Cameron talks about "morning pages." A process of
writing three pages every day just to get your thoughts on paper. We don't want our
brain clogged with ideas and morning pages act as a mechanism to remove the clutter.
Morning pages give us a chance to look at our ideas in the physical world and determine
which are worth moving forward with and which are not.
My advice, use Google Plus as a Morning Pages-esque mechanism. A content incubator. A field in
which you plant a thousand content seeds.
Though I know some of you will disagree with me on this, It's very hard to know at the
moment of conception, which ideas are great and which are just average or boring.
The audience chooses our great ideas. Their engagement and feedback is the indicator as
to which ideas we should explore further and which to stick in the sheddar.
Google plus and it's culture of community engagement is the perfect place to test your
ideas...
...I do this almost everyday. I write short 100-150 word posts around a concept or theory
I'm testing and usually add a question at the end to help encourage readers to comment.
It's this interaction (or lack of interaction as the case is on occasion) that tells me
all I need to know about an idea.
Once I determine an idea is worth expanding on, I dive into it deeper and create a blog
post, video, podcast whatever format fits best and usually does quite well. Because
the idea has been tweaked and tuned by the feedback of my Google Plus audience.
I also have a dozen or more peole invested in the topic from the start because they were
engaged in the Google Plus post.
You're harvesting great content ideas from Google Plus while building deeper relationships
with your audience.
Do you have your own method for harvesting content ideas? Please share in the comments
