This video demonstrates how to print barcode labels with external data with just a few clicks.
For this example we're using a file created with Microsoft Excel.
Some of these data fields will be printed on labels.
Start TFORMer Designer and create a new label.
For printing on laser or inkjet printers confirm the first two pages of the upcoming wizard with Next.
Now browse the list of available label templates or enter the label number directly.
Click Finish to confirm the selection.
TFORMer Designer displays a sample label with the suitable settings.
We would like to design a completely new label.
So we'll delete the sample text.
In order to start, first import the data from the external file.
Click New Datasource and select Text File.
The datasource wizard opens.
Select the file and click Open.
A preview of the imported data and the column names is displayed.
Confirm with OK.
TFORMer Designer creates a datafield for each column contained in the file.
Datafields serve as place holders for the imported data in the layout.
Now let's create the label.
Insert a new text element by clicking on this icon and dragging the mouse.
Fixed text can be entered directly in this area.
But in this case the model number of the imported file should be used.
Select the corresponding datafield and confirm with OK.
Format the text according to your requirements.
To print the part number as barcode, add a barcode element to the layout.
In the bar code wizard, select the required datafield.
Assign it to the barcode by clicking OK.
The size of the human readable text is also adjusted.
Use the Preview to check the labels before printing.
The model name is printed as plain text, the part number is encoded as bar code symbol.
You can now print the labels on your printer or export them as PDF file.
I hope this video was helpful and I encourage you to check out TFORMer Designer for yourself. Thanks for watching!
