Alright, DG45ID, you don't know what that is and I don't know what it is either but it's new and it's
cool and I actually do know what it is I'm lying. This is the new G34 motherboard from Intel,
and this one in particular you can probably guess, this is really cool because it's a perfect,
literally the perfect motherboard for a home theater PC and I'll tell you why in a second.
But let's start with G45. What does G45 bring to the table? It brings 2 things, it brings
PCI Express 2.0 and it brings 45 nm processor support. So Penryns and the Wolf Deals and the
York Fields and all that good stuff, you can use them on here, it will support 1333 mHz front side
bus on this CPU socket which is socket 775, it will support up to 8 gigabytes or RAM,
it's using DDR2 still so it's not super expensive, you don't want to spend an arm and a leg on
your home theater PC but you do want to have a quality board.
Now back to why I mentioned that this is the perfect HTPC motherboard, 3 reasons:
1st, you can tell, micro ATX. Tiny, cute. It's going to fit in just about any little HTPC case
you can throw at it, Silverstone, Lian-Li, whatever, all that good stuff. Now next, even
more important, check out that little connector on the back, see that right there? Boom! That
is a HDMI right there, so you don't even have to worry about getting a video card or having to get
HDMI out of the computer to your TV, it's just right there on board, built in, the other really
big thing is this right here, this looks like you would regularly see on a motherboard like this
but it's not, this is 8 channels of audio, 7.1 surround sound. You have headers for both a
receiver and a transmitter for consumer IR, that is going to let you consolidate all your
remote controls into one really big huge programmable remote control. if you're building
one of those fully automated systems with like every feature on the planet so you can play music
and TV throughout your house, anywhere and you're used to connect to an NAS with all your movies
and like 10 terabytes of storage and you're going to pirate every movie, I can't say that, we're not
going to pirate it, don't pirate! Don't pirate! The RAA will assassinate you. you can do that with
this board. It's going to be phenomenal for that, another reason it's great for that is because
this little ethernet port on the back, that one right there, it's gigabit ethernet so if you are
going to do an NAS or remote server for your files it's fantastic, it means you can run this one off
a little solid state drive, it's going to be completely silent, or you can run it off a very
small hard drive but still have access to terabytes upon terabytes of storage
elsewhere on your home network. Now as you see you also have a DVI port right there so that's a
secondary option you get, you get a bunch of USB 2.0 you got 1,2,3,4 and then 5 and 6
right here, you get eSATA, so if you want to bring a hard drive in you can and you also get FireWire,
which is great for showing off stuff right off the camera, that's fantastic, moving on to the board,
let me show you, starting off down here in this corner, you got 5 SATA ports, so it's going to
support RAID0, RAID1, RAID5, RAID10 all on board, moving on up to here, you got
4 DIMMs, DDR2, up to 800 mHz, uh what else? PCI Express 2.0 x16 is present and accounted for,
right there, very necessary if you want to add a video card of you want to play a game on here,
that's going to give you the full interface speed of PCI Express x16, it's actually going to give
you double the speed, you also have peripherals, you have PCI right here and you have 2 PCI x1
PCI Express x1's right there, you get, eSATA, FireWire, 6 USB on the back and you have another
USB via header that you can add in right down here so very very feature packed board, awesome for
your home theater PC if you want to know what comes in the box, you get 1 SATA cable,
2 SATA cable, floppy disk, that's a RAID disk, just so you know, Intel driver disk, so all the
drivers, a front panel or back panel connector, generic but not the glossy generic at least it's
got a little painting on the front, so it's very nice, you get this little sticker, this is a
'how to connect everything on the board' sticker, it's a little bit complicated looking but actually
doing it is very simple, just follow the steps, you also get some papers, and here's the big one,
if you're a slower human being, you get the full, oh I'm the slow human being, you get
all the instructions in huge, huge type and font, with pretty pictures and they're all colorful so
your attention will not be distracted, oh my god look at that, oh I'm sorry, you won't get
distracted from this and pretty much very simple it's going to go over all your directions
all on board, if you don't know how to build a computer you can probably build it just off
of this alone. So it's micro ATX, it's got HDMI, it's got lots of SATAs, PCI Express 2.0 x16,
45 nm support, consumer IR transmitter and receiver headers, I don't think there's anything
better for a home theater PC. Do you? You know what? I'm going to get Bauer.
Bauer's going to be building a home theater PC for you guys, I'm going to give him this
board so he can do it on this board and keep an eye out for that. Any questions, email me,
see you guys next time. The Intel DG45ID socket 775 micro ATX motherboard
is available from the retailers listed here or for more information type in I69-2174 into any
major search engine, for ComputerTV, I'm Albert.
