Today on our 2012 Toyota Rav4 well be test fitting the Curt 20 inch by 48 inch cargo
carrier, part number C18145. To mount the carrier to the vehicle well insert the shank
of the carrier into the receiver tube of the hitch. Well line up the hitch pin holes, thread
in our anti-rattle bolt, and tighten it down using a wrench. Now well go over a handful
of clearance measurements. Weve got about 10 inches of clearance at the rear of the
cargo carrier and about three inches of clearance between the closest part of the carrier and
the closest part of the vehicle. Overall weve added about 22 inches of length to the vehicle.
Weve got about 12 inches of space between the tip of our exhaust pipe and the closest
part of the carrier. Heat transfer might be an issue so do keep that in mind when you
are loading up your cargo carrier. We also want to open the door to see if we can open
it completely with the carrier installed. We can open our cargo door completely even
with the carrier installed, but keep in mind theres only about four and a half inches of
space between the bottom of our door and the top of our carriers rails. Thats it for our
test fit of the Curt 20 by 48 cargo carrier, part number C18145 on our 2012 Toyota Rav4..
