Shree Bose: Hi and welcome to the Finals Exhibition Hall of the 2013 Google
Global Science Fair.
Liza Sosnova: It's our first time in America, and this is exciting.
Esha Maiti: I love being here at Google. It's one of the coolest places
I've ever been before.
Charalampos Ioannous: Meeting new people, meeting the Googlers and all
this kind of stuff. it's like a dream come true.
Esha Maiti: It's so awesome to see like all these young people entrusted to
do these things in the future.
Elif Bilgin: My project is about making bioplastics out of banana
peels. Well, everyone is so friendly. Everyone is so
interested in each other's projects, and they're all
asking questions about everything, which is really fun.
Eric Chen: What my project does is it combines computational models with
biological assays in order to speed up the drug
discovery process and find new anti-flu medicine.
Shree Bose: Which of the judges are you most excited to talk to?
Esha Maiti: Which of the judges? I'm excited to talk to all of them.
Elizabeth Zhao: I feel like with a lot of other science fairs, the judges
are this kind of separate entity. They're above you.
They're judging you, and they're kind of these scary
people. But at the Google Fair they really try to
eliminate those barriers. These are just people and
colleagues who are interested in what your work is and
want to know more about it.
Shrishti Asthana: I feel honored and privileged to be at the Google
Science Fair.
Esha Maiti: Definitely the most exciting thing I've done was driving in the
self-driving car yesterday.
Alex Spiride: I'm most excited about being with other finalists.
Venkat Sankar: I'm really excited to be presenting to everyone and
talking to everyone about my project and sharing my
work.
Kavita Selva: There are so many smart people here.
Tricia Lim: It's really exciting because we get to see how their projects
work, and it's also really scary because we see, "Oh,
they're really good at this thing."
Viney Kumar: Meeting with other finalists was really amazing because I
got to see other people and share my ideas with other
people who are also very interested in science and
technology and promoting their own ideas. And I learned
so much science, physics, biology. The amount of
knowledge that I've learned over these three days has
been astounding.
Kavita Selva: I don't really think of it as science. It's more of like
problem solving.
Valerie Ding: Science and math and computer, like everything around us
is like really connected, right, and there are these
interactions that you observe on a day-to-day basis, and
that's really a great thing to have.
