\f0\fs24 \cf0 Ann: The statement in the Ofted report has said that our training inspires
trainees to become successful teachers. That's what we want to do and if we do that then
those teachers will inspire children and people and that's what it's all about.\
\ Liz: People want to have an understanding
of what a big institution like a University in their community brings to that community.
\ \
Phil: So three brilliant examples came through, they're about the impacts we intend to have,
because that's what a University creates, it creates, economic, social and cultural
impact and they all seem to hit this nail on the head. How do we get across the concept,
not of the products we do and the outputs we have, but the impacts we're trying to create.\
\ Simon: The second one is about the strength
that we in teaching the teachers. We are very strong within the education sector and it
is about building the generation of teachers who will be teaching our children in years
to come. The results we get from Ofsted reflect our capability there and again it's something
that goes back to the regional impacts that says 'you may not know this but actually all
of the children within Northampton have been taught by a teacher who was themselves developed
and taught within the University of Northampton. \
\ Ann: Well ultimately the work in the School
of Education is all about making a difference to children in people's lives. I think the
most important thing locally and regionally is the impact that we have on children and
young people's workforce. We do that through running courses, education and professional
development courses for the future professionals who will work with children and young people
and our job is to prepare the most committed, the most creative, fantastic people, who will
make a difference to children's lives. Ofsted is a national agency that inspects schools
and it also inspects Universities and other teacher training providers and I'm absolutely
proud to say that on the last three occasions that Ofsted has visited us and inspected all
our initial teacher education provision, they've awarded us the top grade 'outstanding'. That
is consistently high quality training. I think that is down to a fantastic partnership with
schools. The quality of our staff working in partnership with school staff. But I think
the one thing that was said in the last Ofsted report that really rang true for us was the
statement in the Ofsted report that said that our training inspires trainees to become successful
teachers. That's what we want to do and if we do that then those teachers will inspire
children and young people and that's what it's all about.}
