Steve: Hi, it’s Steve from PartSelect. Today we are going to show you how to replace the
icemaker in your refrigerator. It’s a pretty easy job; all we are going to need is a ¼
inch nut driver and a Philips screw driver. Let me show you how it’s done. Now to begin
this repair first thing we’ll want to do is remove anything that’s on this upper
shelf that may be in the way. Next we are going to reach in and turn the ice maker off
by raising up the shut off lever. We will remove the ice bucket, now with the ¼ inch nut driver we will remove two screws
that secure the ice maker to the side wall. Now with a feel by hand where those are located,
just loosen them about halfway, once we have loosened the screws about halfway, simply
lift up on the ice maker and disengage from the two screws. Now at this point, we can
grasp the wire harness connector at the back, press the two tabs and disconnect it. Now
in preparation to put the new ice maker in, we will need to remove one component from
the existing one, which is the level adjustment bracket. It’s held in place with a single
¼ inch hex head screw; simply remove that screw and the bracket and will transfer that
to the new ice maker. Slotted portion of the bracket is what attaches to the ice maker
We won’t tighten it firmly, so we will want to leave a little bit of room to slide it
in and out after we mounted the ice maker into the refrigerator and we can do our final
adjustment and tightening the screw at that point. Now the replacement ice maker does
come with an extension wire harness adapter, in case the model that you have doesn’t
have the wire connection at the front that will allow you to connect to this wire harness
on the ice maker. This model does not require that part, so if we are going to first of
all connect the wire harness, again we will turn our ice maker off to make sure that it
doesn’t inadvertently come on while we are installing it. We will tuck the wire harness
in behind the water fill tube; make sure the fill tube fits into the fill cup at the back
of the ice maker located over the two ¼ inch hex head screws, we will re-tighten those screws.
Now that we have the ice maker mounted to the side wall, next thing we are going to
need to do is make our adjustments to make it sit level. With the ¼ inch hex head screw
in the bottom, loosen that up so that the bracket slides freely, we will lift up on
the ice maker, keep it in a leveled position, pull the bracket over tight to the wall and
tighten the screw. Once we have the two quarter inch hex head screws tightened firmly, so
that the ice maker is secured to the side, verify that the fill tube is in the fill cup,
that the harness is not obstructing anything. Now this replacement ice maker we will need
to adjust the fill time, so simply top the cover off as per the instructions included
Philips screw driver and turn the fill adjust screw one half turn counter clockwise. Now
replace the cover, reinstall the ice bin, and then reach in and turning the ice maker
on. And now our repair is complete, that’s just how easy it is to change the ice maker
on your refrigerator. Thanks for watching and good luck with your repair.
