Hello then this is David Allen and today we are looking at Pixelmator
this is a bitmap editing application but it is also given some vector graphics so let's venture into the realm of
vector graphics today
and what we are going to do is to mess about with some shapes
so let's take the shape here and drag and drop it in there
and we can grab that and we can size it up and as you can see when we size it up we don't
get any jaggies because it is a vector
but you might want to do something where you create some sorts of shapes
so might want to take another one of the shapes here and to
cut into the previous shape with it. so what we want to do is to take this one here
and drag and drop in there and as you can see we've got a shape as gone in there
on the same layer
and is set to do a subtract
and what I need to do is to grab hold of that there
and size that up and now that is attracting from the original shape
and as you can see got it set so that
it is showing the outlines so if you haven't got that outline showing what you need to do is to
go to that there and click on the show outline so that you can see where your outlines are
now if you could do me a favour I would really appreciate it
click on the share button and share this video with your friends
there are other places that you can send it out to as well including Pinterest
and don't forget to click on the like button. thanks a lot.
now sometimes When you do this what's going to happen is that it's going to come in there
their state fish a pair and drag it into there and it goes into a different layer
and you don't one to do that because if you drag it across the top of here
it's not going to be available to merge the shapes together
or to use the one shape to cut into the other one and do a subtraction
so at this time we will do a
shape with this
triangle here
so I have got that selected and I go back into this over here. Select an arrow
and I'm going to click on this one here
subtract from shape
or you can do add to shape so let's click on this one
that has gone on to the same layer and you can see that there
over on our layers panel there
so if I drag that on there you can see that they are joining together
and it is treating those two shapes there as if it is one
so what I'm going to do is to get a gradient fill and drop it onto the object
you can see that the fill goes all the way from the bottom to the top
even the little
arrow on the left hand side as well
if I get this and
select that and move it over there
and even though I have the shape some distance away it is still being treated as one
shape, so I can get this top part of the fill here
and I can drag that up there and the colour is following into the other shape
and it is
completely separate from other object
and I can bring this back down here
put it in and then I need to adjust this Fountain fill once more
Fountain fill or gradient fill
let's go and click on this one over here to subtract
and now i can click on the same puts it in
and we will do a subtract with a shape cookie cutter
after we sized it up we now have a shape that has been to subtracted
within the banding borders of the box those extras are included
and only thing that you can do with this afterwards is to change it into pixels
and so if we go to the layer
we choose convert into pixels
and that we can't do anything else with that because that is that it is a complete
shape now
it is pixels and it is not vector any more
so there you go that is how you do some shapes in the new Pixelmator blueberry
thanks for watching the video and why don't you check out the other videos here's two of them
one video there and one video there that you can go and click on and look at right now
and don't forget that you can also subscribe. I'll talk to you again soon goodbye now
