So, here's my old VIC-20.
The logo's a little bit bent.
Oh well.
It's not too yellow.
This one has a two pin power plug, so it can't use the Commodore 64 power supply.
And here's a Turbo branded tape drive.
These aren't actually any faster than the Commodore branded ones.
It was just a clever marketting gimmick to get people to buy it and it actually worked.
This one, the eject mechanism is busted, so don't need that.
Now, I have one tape game, called Frogrun. It's just a Frogger clone.
Little bit difficult to get it in but it still works.
As you can see, the VIC-20 is working. It has 5KB of RAM but after basic there's
only around 3KB left. I have a 3KB RAM expander here.
It was giving me some issues before, so I haven't installed it. This game doesn't need
it. Now, you can type load or can just push shift
and it does it for you. Now you push play on tape.
You can see the counter going up. It's pretty slow to load from tape.
Take out the instructions. but it's just frogger. I don't think you need
any instructions. Ah, the screen changed colour.
Nothing fancy but it doesn't have the RAM to spare.
No, I don't want instructions.
Still loading. There's a reason we don't load from tape any
more. Floppy drives are much faster but for these
systems, I much prefer to get the cartridges. That's just a tiny VIC-20 game, imagine how
long it takes to load C64 games.
50.
52.
Yay, it loaded.
Press any key. Space.
There we have it. Frogrun or Frogger, whatever you want to call it.
Let's see if I can play this one handed. Ah, I'll put the camera down.
Ah, it's pretty bassy.
How did I die?
Ah, must have ran out of time.
Success!
It's a really loud frog.
Two to go.
At least I think it's two to go.
Uh, oh. Heh.
No, out of time!
Failed.
Let's try that again.
Success.
Now, we have crocodiles.
Ah, you get the idea.
Rapid Fire 1 brand joystick.
and let's turn off the power, if I can find the switch.
