Cheshire Police have published top twenty looks to avoid
for you this summer if you're somebody who goes out and drinks too much
occasionally.
You may find it useful to look at these messages to see if you fit into any of
these categories.
Amongst them you'll see
crash test dummy,
that's to remind people of the effects of drinking and driving,
because what actually happens when you get behind the wheel of a car and you lose
control, is that you become like a crash test dummy and your body breaks into pieces
the way that those dummies do.
It's a very hard-hitting message and it's supposed to be,
it's intended to stop people from drinking and driving.
You'll also see amongst there
the Angry Gorilla.
If you're somebody who's prone to becoming violent when you have a drink, I'm
sure you'll know about that,
you're friends will have told you,
you may even have had to deal with the repercussions the following day.
The image is there to remind you, that you take personal responsibility for the way that you
behave
when you've had a drink, it's nobody else fault but your own,
and if you are likely to become that angry gorilla, it will have consequences for
you.
Another of the top twenty looks to avoid
is the Little Black Bag.
That's not the one that
women throw over their shoulders when they're going out for the evening,
it actually relates to the body bag
that you'll be taken away in
if you are a victim in a fatal road collision.
More often than not
alcohol plays a part in these tragic circumstances,
and this hard-hitting message is to remind you,
that if you get into a car
either as a driver or as a passenger, knowing that a driver has had too much to
drink,
all too often there are fatal consequences,
and that little black bag
is not the one
that you want to be with at the end of the night.
Think, and think responsibly
about your drinking, and think about the impact it can have on you
and on the lives of others.
When I look through the incidents
over a weekend,
that have caused the Police to attend and deal with
emergencies, with violence, with *** assaults,
with disorderly behavior,
with road traffic collisions,
the vast majority of those have been fueled
by alcohol,
by people drinking too much.
If people make the right choices from the outset,
we wouldn't have to deal with
the number of incidents that we do,
and most importantly we would have to deal
with some of the heartbreak and tragedy,
and the long term impact that comes into people's lives
from behaving in that way.
You decide whether you drink too much before you get in the car.
You decide whether you drink too much
before you go out for the evening.
You decide
whether you drink too much
before
engaging in
disorderly behavior,
and if you were to reduce
the amount of alcohol that you drink or, if you should'nt drink, stop it all
together
the amount of incidents that we have to deal with
would reduce,
and we could put our energies
into much more worthwhile activities
in your community.
