Hi, this is Nikki from Blackbaud.
In this video, I’m going to walk you thru some of the features we enhanced in Blackbaud Direct Marketing 2.91.
First let’s start with Segments. We added a Go to constituent button to segment records so you can open a constituent’s record directly from the
segment. This allows you to quickly verify that your segments and selections are pulling the correct constituents.
You’ll find this button on the Current Members tab of a segment and on the Segment Members page of a marketing effort.
For revenue, membership, or sponsorship segments, you also have the option to open the member’s
associated revenue, membership, or sponsorship record.
Another enhancement is on the Segments tab of the Segments page.
You can now view the date a segment was last refreshed as well as the number of records it included at that time.
To provide another way to verify that a constituent belongs in the segment, we also added a constituent lookup ID and
Finder number column to the Segment Members page.
And I have one last segments feature to mention.
We added a way to identify your remainder or no mail segments so you can quality check your
marketing efforts and ensure that all donors are accounted for even if they do not receive the effort.
We call these segment exclusions in BBDM. To make a segment an exclusion, on the Details tab of a marketing effort segment,
select the Exclude from effort but show counts option.
Now let me show you the changes to Export definitions.
We added two new tabs to the Export definition screen.
The first is the Column order tab, which you can use to reorder and rename column headings for the export file.
We also added the Sort order for rows tab, which you can use to specify a sort order for the export.
This will help you make sure that mail merge documents, such as envelopes or labels, are in the order required by vendors.
We also made changes to import process for selections.
In previous versions, you could use only the system record ID to import a selection.
This caused problems because some vendors require other ID types.
Now you can also use the lookup ID to import selections for certain record types, such as Event or Revenue.
For the Constituent record type, you can also use an alternate lookup ID.
We made similar changes to importing segmented house files.
In addition to the system record ID or finder number,
you can now use the lookup ID or alternate lookup ID as the record identifier to import a segmented house file.
We also added a Go to layout button to the File Layouts tab.
Click this button to access the Segmented House Files Layout page where you can view a list of all imported segmented house files
that use this layout.
You can also view the field mappings for the layout.
Now let me show you changes we made to packages.
To help you calculate package costs more precisely,
you can now enter the base cost for packages using four decimal places.
For example, if a vendor charges you .0268 cents per piece,
you will no longer have to round the amount up or down to two decimal places.
Also, if you purchase pieces in increments of a thousand, you can now select “Per thousand” as the distribution for the base cost.
The changes to base costs also apply to creatives, documents, materials, and expenses.
And finally let me show you changes we made to Public media marketing efforts.
Public media efforts are now activated automatically when the effort is created,
rather than as an additional task.
Now you select the appeal on the General tab when you first create the public media effort.
We also made the public media workflow more flexible.
Now you can add or edit segments on the effort at any time.
You can also delete segments that have not yet received responses.
That’s all for this video. Thanks for watching!
