The Blogger tool in MyCR allows you to maintain a weblog, also referred to as a blog, which
functions as an online journal for your class.
To access the Blogger tool for a class site, when viewing the site, click on the Blogger
link in the COMMUNICATION menu.
At the start of a class, if no one has posted any content to their blogs, you won’t see
much, like in this example. Let’s create a sample post so you can see the process.
To create a new post, click the Create New Post button.
Enter the title of the new post in the Title box.
Enter keywords in the Keywords box.
Set the permissions for this post using the Access drop down menu. Use PRIVATE if you’d
like to keep the post to yourself. Use SITE if you’d like to share the post with others
in this class.
If you uncheck the Read Only box, others will be able to add to your new post. We don’t
want to do that in this example, so we’ll leave it checked.
We want to encourage others in the class to interact, so we’ll place a check into the
Allow Comments box.
Type a short summary of the post into the Abstract box.
Under the box for the Abstract is the Text box that allows you to add the actual content
of the posting. I’ll go ahead and paste some text I’ve already prepared into the window.
You could do the same or type your post directly into this box.
Press the Add to Document button.
Click the Save button.
After clicking Save, your blog will be displayed and you can now see your new posting. This
page shows the post title (which links to the full post), post abstract, and post date.
Clicking on the post title allows you to view the full post. Others in the class will be
able to view your posting, and by clicking on the Add Comment button at the bottom of
the post, be able to discuss what you posted with you.
