[music playing] >>Well, what happened was,
I can remember the day quite well it was February 19th and I woke up
very early in the morning with pain in my back, my shoulder blade,
figuring it was old age, but then I realized the pain wasn't going away
it was going into my shoulder >>The emergency department actually called
the emergency before he actually showed up into the emergency department itself so
it was very nice because I was there first before he arrived because the EMS services
had gotten his EKG and showed that he was having a heart attack.
>>She was looking at the EKG, she was Dr. Ajanta De, and she says,
Well, Less, guess what, you're having a heart attack.
>>His case was really great because we were, it was during the middle of the day,
and we were able to do his angioplasty, his emergency angioplasty in less than an
hour. Here at Gobblieb we have two active
cardiac cath labs. We share them with the interventional radiologists.
The door-to-balloon protocal is less than 90 minutes, so from the time
the patient walks in to the emergency department to the time that the
balloon is inserted and inflated into the heart artery is less than
90 minutes. >>Don't be a hero and put it off anymore
just, swallow your pride and dial those three numbers.
Ya know, I mean, that's why I'm here now. >>Some symptoms of a typical heart attack
are chest pain in the anterior chest
radiating into the neck, and sometimes people just have jaw pain. Radiation into the left
arm Some people don't have those symptoms and
have only upset stomach, something that feels like nausea, shortness of breath,
difficulty walking a few blocks which is definitely new in onset, so there's not really
a typical set of symptoms, and we like to make sure people know that, too, because
we don't want people to have their heart attacks at home and not know what it is.
>>I think that when we are dealing with door-to-balloon times that are less than
90 minutes it's very important for a community hospital like Gottlieb Hospital
to provide these services because the closer you are the quicker that we can
treat you. [music playing]
