Eindhoven is very popular among Brazilian students.
Due to good collaboration between the universities in São Paulo and in Eindhoven...
...an increasing number of students is choosing to study at Eindhoven University of Technology.
Last year 13 Brazilian students were enrolled.
This year there already are 32, so the number has almost tripled in a year.
They gain knowledge and learn about collaboration with industry - the latter being of especial interest.
That's what makes our region and university interesting for them.
They really enjoy that their study program is part education, and part working in industry.
The Science without Borders program offers students a grant to study abroad.
If a student wants to apply for this grant, he or she can register for it.
The Brazilian government then makes a selection of the best students.
Only the best students are awarded this grant.
They are excellent Brazilian students, from good universities.
They are mainly from universities from the region of Sao Paulo, not exclusively...
...but that is our focus of collaboration.
They are fluent in English and, yes, they are good at adapting to our culture.
It is our ambition to establish an international community here...
...and they really are contributing to that.
Having received education here, the Brazilians can do a lot for Dutch Industry.
We hope that we can retain some of them for the region.
Of course they are free to return, but we hope we can attract some of them...
...with an interesting career perspective, making them stay longer.
It is hard to predict whether the number of Brazilians at the TU/e will continue to grow.
Currently, there are about 750 Brazilians studying in the Netherlands.
