Susan Topping: We've been invited here by Global TV to do Santa's Workshop for the
Toy Drive. We have the Interior Decorating students, they're from first and second
year in the decorating program and we are setting up the whole scene for delivery
for tomorrow so we've got one day to put it all together.
Melissa Clarke: Our vision is to kind of do a traditional, magical, whimsical workshop
with lots of reds, bright reds, greens and make it really fun for the kids. We also have some
elements we have to incorporate. Some bookcases in the room and also a very large
gingerbread house.
Kara Smith: It's going very well. We have lots of items from Canadian Tire that were donated
to us and we are in the middle of decorating trees which is absolutely
the fun part of this project.
The interior Decorating program offers a co-op component to it so you have the option of having
that added to your program. It was amazing how much of what we learned in the classroom
actually applied to the job.
Alva Au: The professors are awesome, I mean a lot of them are interior designers themselves
they have their own business, some of them have their own TV shows so they've got the
experience, you know, they're always out there in the field dealing with clients
and so it's really great that we get that information brought to us.
Susan Topping: The students get to experience what an actual client is like
and working with real environment and real settings. We have had to conform to a
budget and a space so they're using their conceptual design and applying
what they've learned in the classroom into an actual real situation.
