Should I learn Krav Maga or boxing?
It depends on what you want to do. Boxing is a sport with rules. Krav Maga is a fighting
style that is meant for serious combat.
I want to have fun while training, but I also want to be able to defend myself.
With Krav Maga your fighting ring will be the street, your home or anywhere else you
need to fight an attacker. With boxing you have gloves and a boxing ring.
It seems that boxing is more of an art. I love the endurance and moves they do.
That's true. Krav Maga is certainly not an art. It is a "get the job done" kind of fighting
technique. There is nothing fancy about it. They use every part of their body as a weapon,
not just their fists.
I think that boxing moves can also prove to be handy during self-defense since I can punch
harder.
True, but what if your attacker has a weapon or comes at you from behind? Will you be trained
to instintually take care of anything he can throw at you? Seriously, a boxer is no match
for a trained killer.
I will be quick and have really great endurance from my boxing training.
You will always fall back on the instincts, techniques and rituals you were trained with.
What if I come across a street gang? Can Krav Maga training help me with that? I also heard
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was a good choice.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is another wonderful fighting style, but it cannot help you against multiple
opponents at once. That is where Krav Maga shines again. However Jiu Jitsu is still pretty
awesome fighting one on one.
You don't think boxing is really worth it, do you? You don't think it is useful in a
real life fight.
If you want a fun way to stay in shape, it is great. If you want to be a fighter in a
boxing ring, it is perfect. If you want to become a serious fighter I recommend Krav
Maga, and if you want some more variety go for Jiu Jitsu as well.
