This unification of culture inside national territory
demands a lot of work.
It’s very important for that that many governments,
above all, maybe, the Vargas government,
had a sort of a mission of producing a Brazilian culture,
instead of a federation of regional cultures.
And talking of this culture as something...
It’s not excluding particular regional cultures.
It’s like in the case of identity.
It’s possible to identify yourself as Brazilian, as Gaucho, etc.
I identify myself as a citizen of the world, European, English, citizen of Cambridge.
I don’t think there’s a conflict between these identities.
And with all identity there’s a piece of culture,
we can almost translate multiple identities in multiple cultures.
