Whether your towel bar is about to be ripped from the wall or doesn't coordinate with your
bathroom's theme, replacing your towel bar is an easy project that brings functionality
and design accents to your bathroom. Today, we're going to show you how to Replace AND
Install a towel bar. The tools you're going to need are: a Level,
a Screwdriver, Wall anchors, a drill and drill bits, a hammer, and a pencil. You may also
need touch up paint.
We're installing a new towel bar today because our old towel bar was installed incorrectly.
The screws were not used with wall anchors, making the bar loose and the holes too big
to re-use. So before installing our new towel bar, we took down the old towel bar and repaired
the holes.
We then painted the wall our desired color. Here, after the repair and new paint, we now
have a fresh space to install the towel bar.
The first step is measure the distance between the top of the towel bar's end cap and the
mount hole. If there is more than one hole, measure to the topmost hole. Our distance
was 1 ½ inches from the end-cap's top edge to the hole.
Next, place the towel bar against the wall where you would like to install it. Use the
level to make sure the towel bar is perfectly balanced.
Now mark the tops of bracket using the pencil.
Then measure down from the mark using the distance you noted between the top edge of
the end cap and mount hole. In our case, we measured down 1 ½ inches from the top marking.
Mark a point, for this is where you will be drilling.
Now drill the necessary pilot holes to accommodate the wall anchors.
And Then hammer in the wall anchors.
After the wall anchors are in, screw in the brackets for the new towel bar.
With the brackets mounted, simply connect your new towel bar, double checking to make
sure it is level.
Now enjoy your new towel bar. We hope we were of some help today and we welcome you to join
us on our next project.
