Hi, I'm Kerry Malouf, your makeup artist and beauty expert.
No matter what your age, bold lip color never
goes out of style.
Your 20s are a great time to play around with what shades
and colors work best with your skin tone.
Bright, flirty lips are exactly where you want to be.
The more gloss, the better.
As you enter your 30s, you want to nail that signature look --
a lovely lip stain and a shade that goes well from day
to evening is perfect for a busy lifestyle.
Things that you could get away with 20 years ago won't
necessarily flatter you in your 40s, and that's a good thing.
Aging with grace is an artform, so keep your look fresh.
Start to work earth tones and neutrals into your lip color.
Don't you hate when you buy a lipstick and you get home,
and for whatever reason it doesn't work?
Don't toss it, blend it.
If you're admiring a lip color your favorite actress is wearing
on the red carpet, chances are, it came from a mix of twos.
Take that red you think looks too orangey,
layer it with a taupe shade, and you are all set.
You can use a pill case for your lipstick remnants,
and have a variety of shades that travel easy.
There are few iconic looks as feminine and sophisticated
as bold, red lips.
The drawback to using such a bold color is that
it can feather and fade.
I have a few of my own easy tips to make sure you hold on to
the color you started with.
Lipstick will last longer if you fill in your lips
with a liner first.
Use a red liner that matches the lipstick shade you're wearing
or a neutral color.
Filling in your lips with a liner helps lipstick
last longer, because it creates a base.
So whether you want to add a lipstick or a lip gloss,
the base is already set.
When applying lipstick, some prefer a lip brush
or the tip of a lipstick.
I'm going to use the tip of a lipstick.
Do what works for you, and is easy to reapply.
To finish, mouth your finger to remove any lipstick from
your inner lip that might end up on your teeth.
To keep the color off your glass, discreetly lick your lips
before taking a sip, and it won't come off.
Bold lips are for sure something to smile about.
I hope these tips encourage you to play around with
this fun, colorful detail.
Thanks for watching.
I'm Kerry Malouf and I'll see ya next time.
