hey guys,
I have the R9 280x for you here, this is the MSI varient.
Its built around the same silcon as the HD 7970 Ghz edition
so expect roughly similar performance. As we look at the top of the card
was printed onto a black circuit board
which is always the favoured colour
Around the front, we are greated with msi's twin frozer IV fans, these dual cutting edge fans and the
large surface area allimunium base
allow this gpu cooler to perform better than asus's directcu ii
triple slot design cooler.
at the back of the card with two mini DisplayPorts,
one hdmi, and one dvi-i. This card will support 4K resolutions,
and msi provided a dvi to vga adapter in the box.
Now lets look at whats under the red and black plastic shroud.
Like all 280x's it has 3GB GDDR5 memory,
this if usefully especially for higher resolutions above 1080p.
it has 384-bit memory interface. Like all 7000 series cards its
its still based on the graphic core next architechure
so this card will support mantle once it comes out later this month
This Tahiti gpu has a core clock of 1000mhz
and a memory clock of 6000mhz. Additionally this card is jam packed
with military class 4 components
and according to msi this will surely last you a life time as long as you game at
moderate temperatures
of below 75 degress Celcius. That reps it up!
so I walk you through the installion steps of this video card into my amd vengeance fx build.
I did an overview of my gaming pc in the past, so if you missed
that video out
be sure to watch it, i will link it on the screen aswell as in the description box.
Like most morden cards, this is a dual slot gpu
so its going to occupy 2 slots in your case. I carefully placed the gpu into the
PCI Express slot
a click confirmed that the card was in place. Msi did a great job by adding a
metal piece to the PCB
this helps support the card and stops it from flexing when you have your case up right.
I then screwed the gpu into the 2 slots, which helped it feel solid and rigid,
which is exactly what you want. Finally I plugged in the 6-pin
and 8 pin power adapter that was provided by msi into the card
i hook this up to 600 watt modular power supply which are recommended as the
minimum
but I've seen some people get away with 450 watts power supplies
which is absolutely insane. Keep in mind that this card has a TDP of 250 watts
For number crunchers this card has a lenght of 296 mm,
width of 128 and height of 34 mm,
hence it was nice fit in my fractal design define r4.
Now for you folks you get arroused by these numbers, I will leave you with some benchmarks
but before that if you enjoyed this video be sure to thumb it up
