You know, bites and stings form insects can be pretty painful. Hi, I'm Captain Joe Bruni.
And what I'm going to talk about is how to relieve the common bee sting. With a common
bee sting, there's going to be some type of stinger left inside of the injected site area
where the bee left that mark. There will be inflammation and swelling. Do not try to grasp
the stinger with a pair of tweezers as there will be some type of venom sack leftover,
and squeezing that venom sack to try and remove the stinger will pump more toxin into the
victim. Take something like a credit card, or driver's license, or even a dull butter
knife, and scrape against the stinger in the opposite direction for removal. Scraping will
not squeeze that venom sack. Once the stinger is removed, you can find relief by using ice,
some type of cold pack, for short periods of time, and also making a paste out of water
and meat tenderizer, or water and baking soda that can be applied to the site. Also, aloe
Vera gel can also help reduce swelling and pain. Even an oatmeal bath with half a cup
of oatmeal laced in bath water can help reduce pain, and even over the counter calamine lotion
could be applied. Bee stings can be pretty painful. But quick action can help reduce
swelling, inflammation, and removal of the stinging process. I'm Captain Joe Bruni. Stay
safe, and we'll see you next time.
