Hi, my name is Paris Finnie.
I am a fifth year, Psychology and Spanish major.
And I studied in, if you can see that under my necklace, Argentina.
And it was amazing.
I studied in Germany and Austria.
I studied abroad in Jordan.
I studied in New Zealand.
Korea and Germany.
I studied in the Netherlands.
I studied abroad in Spain.
I just traveled abroad this summer at Beijing, China.
At first I was hesitant. Was I going to survive out there by myself?
How to finance it, where to go?
Leaving behind all these friends and people I knew.
Not really knowing anyone.
And especially which classes you thought would be best to take there.
I was scared about maybe getting lost.
If the people I was going to live with were going to be nice.
You have scholarships that are allotted to you which help you fund your trip.
You get to take the classes that you would have taken here, abroad.
And you are on your own in a different country doing whatever you want, how you want it.
Why would you not, why would you not do it?
I applied for scholarships and I was granted the 50th anniversary UCEAP scholarship, which
was awesome and it helped me a lot.
I used the Cal Grant that I got for UCR.
Gilman scholarship did a big part in funding my education.
If I hadn't studied abroad I think, I would regret it for the rest of my life.
You got to study abroad. I recommend the experiences. It's worth whatever money you have to invest in it.
We do have everything here, we have mountains, we have oceans, we have lakes, rivers, deserts.
But, if you think of the most beautiful thing that you've seen here in California, multiply it by a thousand.
And that's New Zealand.
I miss being the foreigner.
Going to Pamplona, and seeing the running of the bulls.
They did have fried scorpions on a stick.
I had a meatball that was made of deer. It was weird. But it was good.
I got to meet one of my favorite Korean pop groups.
I met a person from every single continent.
I wanted to study in the Middle East. I wanted something different, something completely different.
Study abroad. Make it happen.
Change your life.
It's an adventurous life.
Just do it.
Complete your education.
I went to a foreign land.
Welcome to Jordan.
Change your life.
Just do it.
Study abroad. Change your life. Good Bye!
