Today is the 22nd annual Linda Yalem Run and we're really excited to have over 1,200 pre-registrants and we're hoping to have a few hundred more today.
It was started back 22 years ago in memory of Linda Yalem who was *** and murdered on the Amherst bike path. And it was brought about for safety awareness.
It brings the faculty, staff, students and community together in one place for one reason.
Well, we're here with the Williamsville East Field Hockey team and we wanted to do something together as a team.
The No Boundaries group is basically a group that takes people from the couch to the finish line of a 5k in 12 weeks.
We have about 50 people and they picked this race because it's a really great race for a great purpose.
I try to run during the day, at a decent hour. Trying to stay safe. I always carry my phone with me in case there's an emergency.
I've always wanted to do this race but I never really had time. So, it's my senior year and I kind of want to go out with a ***.
There's just a lot of wonderful things behind this race. It's very meaningful to me to be able to participate in it
